The Brain Injury Association of Connecticut is facing a financial crisis. Governor Rell bundled their organization's State grant of $143,000 with that of other non-profit organizations whose primary function is advocacy and proposed that all included be cut from the State's budget. Many people ask how they can help Ken - a great friend and colleague whose life changed in an instant as a result of an unpredictable accident. I think helping Ken begins by thinking of all those who have or might find themselves in such a circumstance.
The Brain Injury Association of Connecticut (BIAC) is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with brain injury, their families, and caregivers while increasing the community’s understanding of brain injury and its prevention. They work in legislative advocacy for those affected and they help navigate through existing programs.
Founded in 1981 by the families of brain-injury survivors and the social service professionals assisting them, BIAC's original mission was to advocate for specific rehabilitative services and improved care. After incorporating in 1982, that mission expanded to include prevention.

Kyle Wilkinson helped Ken celebrate his birthday and had this to say:
"just wanted to give you an update on how it went the other night. ken is in good spirits and looking good and seems to be well-cared for. his caregiver, chelsea, was a real sweetheart and i think she cares for ken and his two mates. their names are ron and wayne and they should really take their act on the road. wayne is quite bright and throws out all sorts of trivia queries to the guest...queries which i quickly learned not to answer right away as i could count on receiving the answer from ron, who has heard these questions for years, i believe, and is quite at the ready with the answers. this is a routine which ken seems to enjoy...i certainly did. we had birthday cake and had a wonderful couple of hours.
so all seems ok at seminole lane :)
